Weekend in Detroit: featuring School of Seven Bells and Fujiya & Miyagi

It'll be a straight up brain-stirring night of fuzzy mesmerizing dream pop at the Magic Stick on Friday - with two trio's - School of Seven Bells -and- Fujiya & Miyagi.

School of Seven Bells
casts those word warbled, dream-swimming spells ala Cocteau Twins. ...In fact, it features twin singers, sisters Alejandra and Claudia Deheza, whose devastating harmonies and echo-effected vocals can be as beautiful as they are chilling. Meanwhile, guitarist Benjamin Curtis massages an array of engrossing tones through an ever-altering twist and sway of buldging feedback storms upon the stage. Their debut album Alpinisms is out on Ghostly International.

Fujiya & Miyagi are a trio from Hove, England - following the cerebral and bleary-toned experimental pop styles of Broadcast or Stereolab, with a bit more emphasis on the more stringent and sensory-bending classic Krautrock. You can read all about 'em here - from Real Detroit Weekly's Ryan Patrick Hooper.

(all too fitting, our own atmospheric kinetic-popster (and fellow Ghostly-label-mate with SVIIB) Deastro, will open up.
